It is reported that 11.5% of children in Japan live in relative poverty. In economically struggling households, children often face difficulties in having sufficient meals. Save the Children Japan launched this initiative in 2020 as part of their project to address child poverty and ensure children's rights to live and grow. This initiative takes place twice a year, during the summer and winter holidays, when support is most needed due to the lack of school lunches.
