JCCU Conducts WEB Survey on Old Age

In December 2023, JCCU conducted a survey on awareness regarding old age," targeting co-op members aged 20 to 50 who have not yet reached old age. The purpose of this survey was to elucidate the awareness and preparedness of the respondents.
Main topics of the survey results
Concerning worries about old age, 70% specifically expressed concerns about living expenses and financial aspects. "Saving" emerged as the primary preparation for old age across all age groups.
The most prevalent concern regarding old age was "living expenses/financial aspects," with 71.6% of respondents citing it. Among age groups, those in their 30s expressed the highest concern at 79.3%, while the lowest concern was among those in their 50s at 64.5%. Additionally, when asked about current preparations for old age, the most common response across all groups was "savings" (45.0%), emerging as the top answer for all age groups.
Over 50% of respondents stated that they "pay attention to their eating habits" for their health in old age. Those who "pay attention to their eating habits" tended to perceive old age more positively.
54.0% of all respondents reported being cautious about their eating habits for their health in old age, making it the most common response across all age groups. Among them, the 50s age group had the highest result at 59.9%.
The top three specific actions taken by those who stated they "pay attention to their eating habits" are as follows: first, "eating meals considering nutritional balance" (69.6%); second, "eating vegetables" (64.7%); and third, "not consuming too much salt" (55.4%). Regarding their perception of old age, it was found that those who pay attention to their eating habits are more likely to answer "positively" or "rather positively," indicating a tendency to perceive old age more positively.
