The Tourism Promotion Council was established in Gifu Prefecture in January 2005 in order to revitalize the region. Since its establishment, they have been working on improving the acceptance system, human resource development, and the dissemination of PR information to metropolitan areas. However, as the number of participants increased, the current system could not handle it and they needed to create a new system. In May 2017, led by the green tourism organizations in the prefecture, a new Green Tourism Promotion Council was established in collaboration with agricultural co-operatives and travel agencies. Gifu Prefecture Consumers' Co-operative Union supports the activities as a key member of the Council.

About 100 people, including green tourism groups and individuals, the staff of the prefecture, municipalities and tourist associations participated in this year's conference. After the opening remarks by the Secretary-General of the Promotion Council, a keynote speech was given where the lecturer introduced attractive examples of green tourism from across Japan. Following that, a special lecture entitled "How to make a small inn full of repeaters" was given by the owner of a hot spring inn in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition, at the information exchange meeting, it was stated that many organizations had lost income due to the COVID-19 disaster, but it was confirmed that they would continue to hold the conference.
