JCCU Sponsors "Food Box for Children" Initiative for the Seventh Time Through Support for Save the Children Japan

2025.08.26

JCCU supports the 'Food Box for Children' initiative by Save the Children Japan and has now sponsored the project for the seventh time.

The "Food Box for Children" initiative distributes food and other daily necessities donated by companies and organizations to households with children facing financial hardship.

In Japan, it is estimated that 11.5% of children live in relative poverty. In economically struggling households, children often face difficulties in having sufficient meals.

Save the Children Japan, a nonprofit organization, launched this initiative in 2020 as part of its efforts to ensure children's rights to survival and development. The program is implemented twice a year during summer and winter vacations when school meals are unavailable and additional support is especially needed.

As part of its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), JCCU has declared its intent to help eliminate hunger and poverty globally while supporting children. This sponsorship is one such initiative. On this occasion, JCCU donated Co-op products and took part in volunteer activities to pack the boxes.

JCCU will continue to work together with consumers and co-op members to support child-rearing households and those in need, aiming to realize a society where no one is left behind.
