Co-op Welfare Organization Hosts Inaugural National Case Study Conference
2026.05.25
In February, the National Federation of Cooperative Welfare Organizations (hereafter, the Co-op Welfare Organization) held its inaugural "National Case Study Presentation Conference" in a hybrid format. Around 400 frontline staff from 31 co-op organizations nationwide took part. Participants shared insights from initiatives they had implemented over the course of about six months, learning from one another while offering encouragement and support.
Sharing Frontline Insights and Ingenuity
Fifteen co-op organizations nationwide took the stage to present case studies based on the "Ten Basic Care by Co-op."
A functional training specialist from the day service of FCO・OP Consumer Co-op presented a case study. In response to a user in their 70s who expressed the wish, "I want to take a bath again," staff worked in close coordination with the family, care manager, visiting rehabilitation team, and attending physician to ensure safety, ultimately enabling the wish to be fulfilled.

A care manager from a home care support office of the Fukui Prefectural Consumers' Co-op presented a case study. It involved a 94-year-old man whose walking had become unstable and whose motivation had declined. After discussions among the relevant parties, the "Ten Basic Care by Co-op" was adopted as the core framework for support. An environment was created to enable activities he could become absorbed in--such as exercise, bonsai, and shogi--and these efforts were shared and coordinated through care conferences. As a result, the man regained both motivation and physical function; his home-visit care services were discontinued, and his care level improved from Level 3 to Level 2.
At the conclusion of the conference, an awards ceremony was held to recognize the efforts of participating organizations.
Moving forward, the Co-op Welfare Organization will continue to collaborate with partners nationwide to enhance the quality of co-op care services and work toward building a welfare society where everyone can live with peace of mind and dignity.
