On April 1, 2026, JCCU launched "CO-OP Soy Mince and Vegetable Mix Dry Pack (with Carrots and Corn)" as a new addition to its "Dry Pack" series, which requires no preparation and can be used straight from the bag. The product combines soy mince in a crumbly texture with carrots and corn.

These developments are driven by concerns over food supply challenges linked to global population growth, as well as the environmental impact of the livestock industry. In this context, soy meat--an alternative made from plant-based ingredients--is gaining increasing attention worldwide. It offers health benefits, being rich in plant-based protein while low in fat and calories. In addition, it requires fewer resources to produce than conventional meat and generates lower greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to its growing demand as a solution to environmental issues.

JCCU's "Dry Pack" uses a unique method in which ingredients are steamed using only their natural moisture, without adding water. This helps keep the umami and flavor from being lost, preserving the ingredients' original taste. The lineup includes items such as soybeans, hijiki seaweed, sweet corn, and burdock root, and is popular with consumers for its convenience, as it removes the need for soaking or rehydration.

This new product was developed as part of JCCU's "Healthy Co-op" initiative. The program aims to address co-op members' health concerns and support their well-being through everyday meals. Designed for busy lifestyles, the product makes it easy to prepare balanced dishes simply by adding it to salads, soups, or vegetable side dishes.
