Business Outline:
(1) Promotion of "Seikatsu Club Denki," a joint purchase of electricity by Seikatsu Club Co-op members
(2) Development and support of renewable energy sources
(3) In-house consumption type PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) business
(4) Support for the establishment of new local electric power companies, as well as for the promotion of local energy projects through surveys, planning, and primary cooperatives' activities for power supply development.
(5) Promote research and study, policy making, and policy proposals for energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction
(6) Operation, maintenance, and management of renewable energy power plants, including those operated by primary cooperatives and invested in and financed by Seikatsu Club, as well as corporate management of SPCs (Special Purpose Company).
(7) Management of the Seikatsu Club Renewable Energy Fund, expansion of donations, and grant operations

Through these efforts, Seikatsu club will promote sustainable energy self-sufficiency without relying on nuclear power plants or fossil fuels, which is the purpose of its establishment.

Seikatsu Club started its activities for the abolition of nuclear power generation after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident in 1984, in which radiation was detected in even food produced in Japan. Since then, Seikatsu Club has worked to promote the spread of renewable energy, including the promotion of energy conservation, the construction of about 30 renewable energy power plants which are invested and financed mainly by Seikatsu Club, and the launch of "Seikatsu Club Denki", a facility that supplies electricity to the members of Seikatsu Club.

In the course of their activities over the past 40 years, they have come to recognize that in order to promote renewable energy, it is necessary to create economic solidarity between rural and urban areas and promote citizen autonomy, rather than simply addressing the electricity issue alone. For this reason, they established the Energy Business Association with the aim of creating a 100% renewable energy society by moving away from nuclear power, promoting renewable energy, and promoting a social solidarity economy.

*Seikatsu Club Consumers' Co-operative Union is a union of 33 consumer co-ops in 22 prefectures including Seikatsu Club Consumers' Co-operative Union of Mutual Aid (SCCCUMA). The total membership of its member co-ops is approximately 420,000.
