On October 10, FCO・OP and the Chikugo River Disaster Prevention Facility, Kurumeusu co-hosted the "Parent-child River Cleaning and Canoeing Experience" event. Although the number of applications received far exceeded the expected number of applicants, 48 people including staff participated in the program.
Participants were divided into three groups and each picked up garbage from the river. A total of six bags of garbage were collected, and the students learned about the environment, including where the garbage came from, when it was thrown away, and how the garbage flowed from the Chikugo River to the Ariake Sea. They also learned that garbage cannot be recycled once it is thrown away.
In the survey conducted after the event, the following comments were received from the parents: "After the garbage picking experience, the children's interest in garbage increased. It was a very good experience".

The canoeing experience was something that the children were very much looking forward to, and they seemed to have enjoyed it. They started with how to put on the life jackets, and how to get on and off the canoe with careful explanation and guidance. There were many comments that the canoeing experience was much easier and more interesting than they thought it would be.
