JCCU was awarded the Grand Prize at the "Eco Mark Award 2024," organized by the Japan Environment Association (JEA). The organization also received the Gold Award (currently known as the Grand Prize) at the "Eco Mark Award 2011." This marks the first time at JEA that a single organization has been honored with the Grand Prize on two occasions at the Eco Mark Award.

The "Eco Mark Award" is an evaluation system for the Eco Mark program, organized by the JEA, a public interest foundation. The objectives of the Eco Mark program are: 1) to enable consumers to select products that are environmentally conscious, and 2) to encourage the formation of a sustainable society through the environmental improvement efforts of businesses. The purpose of the Eco Mark Award is to honor companies, organizations, and others who actively commit to the goals of the Eco Mark program, and to widely promote excellent examples of the dissemination of environmentally friendly products. In addition to the Grand Prize, JCCU also received the "Product of the Year Award" at the "Eco Mark Award 2017."

JCCU obtained Eco Mark certification in 1990, the year following the launch of the Eco Mark program in 1989. As of 2024, the number of product items certified with the Eco Mark has exceeded 850. The recent Grand Prize award recognizes JCCU's efforts in developing Eco Mark-certified CO・OP Brand Products in collaboration with member co-ops and co-op members, and promoting the sales of these environmentally conscious products.

CO・OP Brand Products has actively utilized the Eco Mark certification, as it evaluates the environmental impact reduction of plastic packaging through 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and biomass, among other criteria. The Eco Mark has been applied as a common certification for product packaging. Additionally, JCCU has worked to obtain Eco Mark certification for paper products made from recycled paper.

JCCU has set goals for "Paper & Pulp" and "Plastics" in its "2030 Goals for CO・OP Brand Products."
