CO・OP Sustainable Product Series: First CO・OP Product to Use BAP Certified Shrimp launched


On April 1, 2024, JCCU launched the "CO・OP Thai Authentic Tom Yum Goong Set", made with shrimp certified by BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices). 

This product is part of the CO・OP Sustainable Product Series that uses main ingredients that are friendly to the environment and society. 

Additionally, on June 1, 2024, CO・OP Microwave 'One-Bite' Shrimp Tempura is scheduled to be launched.

BAP certification is a globally trusted certification program that targets hatcheries, feed mills, aquaculture farms, and processing plants of farmed aquatic products, certifying that environmental and social responsibilities, as well as the health of the farmed seafood and the safety of the food, are guaranteed at all stages.

This is the first time that a CO・OP product using shrimp will bear the BAP certification logo. 

The Pillars of Responsibility: 
BAP's standards are based on four pillars of responsibility- environmental responsibility, social accountability, food safety, and animal health and welfare.

1. Environmental Responsibility: Water quality, proper disposal of waste, and ensuring marine habitats are protected.

2. Animal Health & Welfare: Proper monitoring of behavior and physical health and ensuring animals are treated humanely.

3. Food Safety: Proper sanitation, product handling and transport confirmed by product inspections.

4. Social Accountability: Fair treatment of workers and providing safe, healthy, and clean working conditions.

Features of the new products:
CO・OP Authentic Thai Tom Yum Goong Set (Frozen Food)
This meal kit facilitates easy preparation of Tom Yum Goong, a typical Thai dish originating from Thailand. It contains Vannamei shrimp and Tom Yum Goong soup.

CO・OP Microwave 'One-Bite' Shrimp Tempura (Frozen Food)
Shrimp tempura in bite-size portions. Can be eaten after microwave cooking.
