On November 14, 2023, a delegation of 32, led by the Governor of the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy including co-op officials from the same region, visited Japan on an economic mission. During the visit, 11 co-op officials, including representatives from JCCU, the Central Union of Agricultural Co-operatives (JA Zenchu), and the Japan Co-operative Alliance (JCA), met with the delegation.
The delegation visited various institutions and companies across Japan to promote their province's agribusiness and establish connections with Japanese counterparts. As part of these visits, they held a meeting with representatives of Japanese cooperatives.
At the beginning of the meeting, TSUCHIYA Toshio,
President of JCCU, and FUKUZONO Akihiro, Executive Director of
JA-ZENCHU, gave welcome remarks, followed by Stefano BONCCINI, President of
Emilia-Romagna Region who expressed his gratitude for the visit.
Subsequently, MAEDA Kenki, Senior Manager
of JCA, gave an overview of Japanese co-ops. Following this, Daniele Montroni, President
of Legacoop Emilia-Romagna, introduced cooperatives in the Emilia-Romagna
region, Italy. Lastly, there were presentations on the activities of various Italian
cooperatives, including organic food and beekeeping. The meeting ended with discussions
and opinion exchanges.
