Okayama Co-op donates 1 million yen to AMDA Multisectoral and Integrated Development Services

Okayama Co-op is promoting activities together with AMDA Multisectoral and Integrated Development Services as a partner in international cooperation support activities, and on May 12, it presented 1 million yen as an activity support fund for FY2022.

Since FY2021, Co-op Okayama has supported the "Nepal Maternal and Child Health Disparities Reduction Project," which has led to health awareness and improved use of health care services in the region.

The presentation ceremony was held at the headquarters of Okayama Co-op and was attended by 25 co-op members, including Mr. SHIRAHATA Toshio, General Manager of the Overseas Business Operations Division, AMDA Multisectoral and Integrated Development Services, Ms. TAKEHISA Yoshie, Program Coordinator, TANAKA Teruchika, Managing Director of Okayama Co-op, and co-op members. The members also presented gifts such as handmade message books, brooches made from origami cranes (folded paper cranes), and toys for children.

Ms. OKAMOTO Mari, who presented the inventory on behalf of the co-op members, said, "These are donations from our members. We hope that they will be used to help Nepalese mothers and children stay healthy both physically and mentally." Mr. SHIRAHATA, General Manager of AMDA, expressed his gratitude by saying, "Thank you very much for your thoughtful gifts. They are very much appreciated by the local people. We will use the donations for the improvement of the homes and livelihood of each individual."

After the donation presentation ceremony, Ms. TAKEHISA reported on the activities of the "Nepal Maternal and Child Health Disparities Reduction Project." She reported that the thermometers purchased with the relief funds are very useful, and that the gifts from co-op members are greatly appreciated by the local people. There was also an introduction of photos presented by local mothers as a token of their appreciation.
