Co-op Mirai delivers drinking water to members' homes cut off with water supply

2021.02.18

On December 29, 2020, a water pipe leak accident occurred in Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, causing water outages in about 4,870 households. The strenuous repair work carried out by the local government was not completed until the New Year, when bad weather and another leak caused difficulties. However, the work was finally completed and the water supply was fully restored on January 3, 2021.

Based on the "Agreement on the supply of emergency relief goods in the event of a large scale disaster" concluded between Co-op Mirai and Futtsu City in 2018, Co-op Mirai distributed bottles of drinking water free of charge to co-op members' homes that were cut off of water supply as emergency assistance.

The following are comments received from co-op members, "I was extremely busy at the end of the year, so it was very helpful." "Because I have problems with hearing, I couldn't hear the disaster prevention radio clearly, so I was grateful to be supplied with water."
