In Japan, according to estimates by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the elderly population aged 65 and over was 36 million as of September 15, 2020, with an aging rate of 28.7%, of which 28.8% were single-person households.

Co-op's Dinner Home Delivery is a service that delivers healthy and nutritionally balanced meals supervised by a nutritionist to the front door of users at a fixed given time every day. Many member co-ops carry out operations from dinner menu proposals to cooking and delivery as part of the co-op's life support and welfare activities focusing on elderly members, women before and after childbirth, and members who are busy with work.

At Kochi Co-op, most of the users of the dinner home delivery service are the elderly. Family members living in separate homes who are concerned about the life of the elderly may order it for them. The delivery staff does not only deliver the meal but also plays the role of watching over them by talking and getting close to them.

Many Co-op members say, "I am looking forward to a meal and a conversation with the delivery staff." This service is an effort not only to provide meals but also to strengthen the relationship between the co-op, its members, and the community.
