Palsystem participated in the "Coronavirus Disaster Emergency Action - Discussion with government ministries and agencies" which was held at the First Members' Office Building of the House of Representatives in Tokyo on August 19, 2020.
Other participants who took part in this meeting included the 33 support organizations that provide employment consultation and housing support for non-regular employees, internet cafe refugees, students, and persons with disabilities. The main agenda was to discuss with related ministries and agencies regarding the practical use of the Anti-Poverty Support Fund and the current status of support for people who need help for a living.
Lately, the support organizations have raised a fund of 84 million yen and provided 22 million yen to 698 people in need. It was reported that the number of needy persons who have lost their jobs due to the suspension of hiring or bankruptcy on the part of the companies is increasing day by day, which needs to be stopped. Also, there was a report that some foreign people who have lost their residence status and are temporarily out of work due to various reasons could neither receive the Special Cash Payments by the Japanese Government nor find work to do.
During the discussion with the representatives of the relevant ministries (the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) regarding the specific support measures that the government takes, the support organizations claimed that "the number of people who need help for a living is increasing even while considering the measures, and the relevant ministries need to speed up in their efforts to save lives as soon as possible."
