Consumer co-ops ranked second behind Toyota Motor Corporation in the "CSR evaluation" ranking of "Brand Japan 2019". Among co-operatives in Japan, consumer co-ops were the only that fell into the top 20 of Brand Japan.

Brand Japan is one of Japan's largest brand value evaluation research projects conducted annually by Nikkei BP Consulting, Inc. In this research project ordinary consumers and business suppliers evaluate the brands being used in Japan by answering survey questions prepared by Brand Japan. The first survey was conducted in 2001, and this is the 19th.

This time, the survey was conducted in an open format to allow all interested Internet users to answer the survey questions from November 7 to December 5, 2018. A total of 62,000 samples were collected and statistical analysis was performed. A summary of the statistical results is published on the website of Nikkei BP Consulting Inc., and detailed data can be purchased online.
