JCCU participated in the Japan Climate Action Summit

On October 12, 2018, the Japan Climate Initiative held the “Japan Climate Action Summit “ at Toranomon Hills Forum, Tokyo. The "Japan Climate Initiative" is a network of diverse entities other than the national government, such as companies, local governments, organizations, NGOs, etc. who actively address climate change countermeasures.

At the summit, 29 people from companies, local governments, consumer organizations and others actively working on climate change played the role as speakers and panelists.

FUTAMURA Chikako, Director, Member Relations Division who participated as one of the panelists on the theme" Frontier of Climate Action: Decarbonization from local communities" made remarks about the activities of Co-ops that promote the mid- and long-term wish of consumers.

At the summit, a declaration from Japanese non-state actors towards the 24th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 24) to be held at the end of 2018 was announced. JCCU together with other 156 organizations agreed with the declaration.
