2018.08.07

JCCU in every summer cooperates in "Special Summer Vacation" for children living in Fukushima Prefecture, one of the activities of "Fukushima Children’s Recreation Project" by Fukushima Consumers’ Co-operative Union.

Consumer co-ops nationwide have been offering special vacation programs to children living in Fukushima Prefecture as part of the disaster area reconstruction assistance activities since 2011, aiming at helping children, parents and supporters spend time outdoors in areas remote from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

This year, the special summer vacation programs will be held nationwide in 12 locations, in the period of July 21 to August 26, 2018.

Special cooperation to this project is also given by the Fukushima Association for UNICEF and the Fukushima University Community Environment Laboratory.

Since the start of this Recreation Project, 83,166 people including children and their parents have participated (as of March 31 2018).

In fiscal 2017 (April 1 2017 to March 31 2018), the amount of funding from JCCU and member co-ops, the Japan Committee for UNICEF and others for this project are respectively 18.7 million JPY, 20.5 million JPY and 4.3 million JPY, totaling approximately 43.5 million JPY.
